Children´s Traffic PLAYGROUND

Our traffic playground is designed in such a way that it is possible to ride a bicycle on it. You can practice an actual ride, a ride of skills and also a safe journey to school.

Show the videos to your pupils to avoid any difficult explainations. We purposefully placed some mistakes in the videos to initiate a responsive reaction.

The heavy duty play mat you can place in an outdoor area ... onto these types of surface : soft - sand, grass, soil, (fixing with nails through loops in the mat), and hard - concrete, asphalt, tiles, (fixing with plate plugs and special screws through loops in the mat). The playground can also be placed in a gym... The size of the playground is adapted to the size of a volleyball pitch, that is why it can also be placed in a gym. After positioning, the material of the playground will cling to the floor, it stays in place and does not roll. When the mat gets dirty... Simply, you can sweep up, spray with water and wash with the usual cleaning detergents. Guidelines for maintenance you can find here. Size is 9 x 9 m (81m2). The playground is suitable for a group ride of up to 8 pupils. Involve other children as pedestrians.

HOW THE AID CAME INTO EXISTENCE AND WHY?

An example of how we worked:
To a fenced area of 9x9 m in size I sent two girls on bikes with the words : “You will cycle in a circle as close to the edges as possible”. First, they cycled in a row, then they changed direction and then one of them went in the opposite direction. This was repeated with another two couples. In addition, we made a puddle there so that the wet tyres would show their tracks. On this experiment we studied the turning radius, the required width of the traffic lane for avoiding each other, a ride in the opposite direction, the possibilities of utilizing the space, setting up a pedestrian crossing, the shapes of crossroads and traffic signage and so on...

The task was :
To devise a mobile traffic playground which could be carried by two people, transported in the boot of a car, which could be layed out in a gym as well as outside as easily as possible, and at the same time it would be possible to learn all traffic situations there, ride skilfully, and pupils could cycle there and move like pedestrians. WE HAVE MANAGED IT.
